Freedom of Information

The Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA) gives a general right of access to all types of recorded information held by the University, subject to a number of exemptions.

Under the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act 2000, you can ask the University to provide you with any information held by the University.

A request for information must be made in writing (including electronic means) and the applicant is entitled to be informed in writing whether the University holds the information requested and if so, to have the information communicated to him or her.

The University will usually have 20 working days to respond to your request or longer if we have requested a fee.

Publication Scheme

The Freedom of Information Act requires every public authority to have a Publication Scheme, approved by the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), and to publish information covered by the scheme.

The Publication Scheme either indicates that information is available on the website or provides contact details for the relevant department. Requests for information not included within the Publication Scheme would be managed according to a Freedom of Information Request.
